You can apply if you are an international student accepted into a full-time course registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students). You must also meet English language, health, and financial requirements.
2. How long is the Student Visa 500 valid?
The visa is generally valid for the duration of your enrolled course, plus additional time (usually 2–3 months) to prepare for departure or apply for another visa. If your course is longer than 10 months and finishes at the end of an academic year, you may receive a visa valid until 15 March of the following year.
3. Can I work on a Student Visa Subclass 500?
Yes. As of 1 July 2023, most student visa holders can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods, and unlimited hours during official breaks. Work rights are automatically attached once your course begins.
4. Can I bring my family?
Yes, you can include eligible family members (spouse/partner and dependent children) in your application. They will have access to work and study rights while in Australia. You must demonstrate sufficient funds to support them.
